WEST COCALICO TOWNSHIP

The Chairman, Jacque Smith called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

The following were in attendance:
Supervisors: Jacque Smith, Terry Scheetz and James Stoner.

Others Present: Carolyn Friesema, Manager; Shelbie Shupp, Administrative Assistant; Luke Showalter, and Walter Augsberger.

Terry Scheetz motioned to approve the Board of Supervisors minutes from June 7, as presented. James Stoner seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Terry Scheetz motioned to approve the attached list of checks totaling $163,697.42. James Stoner seconded the motion. Motion carried.

James Stoner motioned to approve the May, 2012, Treasurer’s Report. Terry Scheetz seconded the motion. Motion carried.

There was discussion regarding the 1975 North Reading Road property in regards to renting space for truck parking. East Cocalico Township is moving forward with this and probably will have everything in place to begin renting space by the end of July. JJ said he will send all the trucks that use his lot for parking to the 1975 N. Reading Road property and dissolve the truck parking in his lot. Also discussed were structural issues with the building. Terry Scheetz said in the near future, the municipalities will have to consider that the value of this property is only in the land.

James Stoner motioned to approve the offer of $26,000 from Jackson Township for the purchase of the 3500 dump truck. Terry Scheetz seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Terry Scheetz motioned to approve Bike Towards the Cure bike ride on Township roads. James Stoner seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Jacque Smith motioned to appoint Jeremy Weaver to the Planning Commission. Terry Scheetz seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Bob Bachman had spoke with Carolyn asking if the Board of Supervisors could send Penn Dot a letter regarding rerouting Harnish Run to its’ original flow to help with flooding issues. The Board of Supervisors discussed the request and do not feel that Penn Dot would change the location of Harnish Run.

James Stoner motioned to approve the Denver Borough Winter services agreement. Terry Scheetz seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Terry Scheetz said he had been at the Schoeneck Carnival grounds over the weekend and noticed people parking on the grass at the basketball court at Schoeneck Park. He asked them to park in the parking lot, which was empty. Carolyn will check with Chief Beever to see if they can enforce no parking on the grass in the township parks.
Carolyn will check with Mike Hession to see where Denver Borough got the No Smoking signs that they are going to post in the Denver parks.

Carolyn Friesema gave the Manager’s Report:
          1.Investigated the following complaints:
                    a.Unregistered vehicles/ long grass/ junk- 287 Galen Hall Road
                    b.Drainage issue at 315 Village Spring Lane
          2.Met with Tom Showalter, Jim Caldwell and Ben Webber to discussvari ous Township projects.
          3.Met with Ryan from Verizon Wireless to discuss potential cost savings on wireless service
          4. LCTCB tax collection is on target.

On a motion by James Stoner and seconded by Terry Scheetz, the meeting was adjourned at 9:43 a.m.
